Perhelatan Academy Awards ke-93 terasa semakin dekat dengan diumumkannya berbagai nominasi untuk tahun ini.
Mank pun memimpin dengan mendapatkan 10 nominasi, diikuti oleh berbagai film yang mengantongi 6 nominasi: The Father, Judas and the Black Messiah, Nomadland, Minari, Sound of Metal, dan The Trial of the Chicago 7.
Pertama kalinya dalam sejarah Oscars, dua wanita dianugerahi nominasi untuk Sutradara Terbaik dalam satu tahun yang sama. Mereka adalah Chloé Zhao (Nomadland) dan Emerald Fennel (Promising Young Woman). Sejarah lain pun dicetak oleh Chloé sebagai wanita Asia dan wanita dengan kulit berwarna pertama yang menerima nominasi tersebut.
Nick Jonas dan Priyanka Chopra Jonas dipilih sebagai pihak yang mengumumkan nama-nama para peraih nominasi, melalui sebuah siaran langsung pada Senin kemarin.
